Ethics: 1.00/Credit

The emergence of ChatGPT and other generative AI tools come with tremendous promise of increased automation and efficiency. But at what cost? In this CLE, we’ll explore the potential ethical time bomb of using generative AI and examine the responsibility of lawyers in the age of generative AI. Rather than focusing exclusively on ChatGPT or getting too prescriptive, we will focus more generally on generative AI and the ethical concerns facing lawyers when approaching this new technology. We will base this CLE presentation on the Arkansas Rules of Professional Conduct, and it will be for ethics CLE credit.

3 key topics that will be discussed::
(1) how generative AI can be and is already being used in the practice of law;
(2) the ethical duties of lawyers using generative AI; and
(3) practical tips and suggestions for safely using ChatGPT today.

Presenter(s): Devin R. Bates
